American Hanoverian Society Inspection on July 24, 2003
The 2003 AHS Inspection was the largest inspection ever held at Oakwood Farms with fifty mares and foals attending. The members of this year's inspection team were Karin Himmelmayer, Hans Bunger of Germany and AHS Executive Director Hugh Bellis-Jones (secretary).
The inspection began early with the free jumping portion of the Mare Performance test. Three mares were to be evaluated: Delorean (Del Piero/Wanderer), Whimsical R (Wolkenstein II/Davignon) and Pikture Perfect (Pikadero/Lukas). Both Delorean and Whimsical R are owned by Oakwood Farms and Pikture Perfect is owned by Alisa Lask. The under saddle portion of the test concluded later in the morning. Oakwood Farms' mares, Delorean and Whimsical R, both successfully completed the test and are now elite mare candidates, needing only to produce a foal to qualify for the title of Elite Mare. In particular, Whimsical R, scored an overall 8 on her performance test.
After the free jumping evaluation for the Mare Performance Test, seven non-Hanoverian mares and twelve Hanoverian mares were presented for approval.
The first event of the afternoon was an exposition by Oakwood Farms' stallion, Widmark ridden by Meg Williams. Following Widmark's demonstration, thirty one foals were inspected. A Widmark filly out of Delightt owned by Holly Sheckler was named top filly and a Rubin Royal colt owned by Linda Woltz was named top colt of the day.
